Quad Cities social media users say Michael Madigan should follow daughter out door

Vote 2

Quad Cities voters jumped on WQAD-TV's Facebook page recently to offer their thoughts on the unexpected announcement by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to not seek re-election.

For the most part, it appeared that her decision resonated, but perhaps not in the way she would want.

“Is she taking her dad with her?” Don Wooden asked.

Madigan's father is House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago).

"LOL good now her dad needs to go," Sean Banks posted.

Others took the announcement as a chance to voice their thoughts on the state in general.

“Illinois … total political corruption,” Dave Robertson posted.

“She is probably moving out of state like everyone else,” Lori Fones commented.

Although Lisa Madigan spoke of taking on “new, challenging opportunities” when her term ends, she has also said she will not be seeking another political office.

“She will probably run for governor and really monopolize Illinois government,” Cathy Jim Wannemacher wrote.

Madigan has been the attorney general for 14 years. Her term will end in 2019.
