Ahead of next year’s race for state representative in the 71st District, incumbent Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) took to social media to publicize her recent visits to several Fulton manufacturers and other small businesses.
"What a day in Fulton!” she posted on her Facebook page. “I like to share where I visit so you can see and hear about the district with me! We are truly blessed to live in the best part of the state!”
McCombie was referring to a number of stops that day at area businesses, including The Steam Anchor coffee shop, Company One and the J.T. Cullen Co., the Fulton Meat Market and Timken Drives, according to her Facebook page. The congresswoman ate lunch with Fulton Chamber of Commerce staff at Krumpets.

Focusing on small business is not a new strategy for McCombie’s campaign. Her campaign page lists jobs and agriculture as key elements, as well as improvements to education, a balanced state budget and Second Amendment rights.
“Today, we learned so much history and know from our area manufacturers that they are hiring and want to grow in Illinois!” McCombie posted. “Please be sure to visit their websites and join a family owned business team that cares about developing relationships and American-made products!"
