Freshmen and sophomores at Rock Island High School have until Dec. 18 to sign up for the PSAT 10 exam, the school district's website said.
The test, which is free of charge, will take place Saturday, April 21.
The PSAT 10 is seen as preparation for new versions of the SAT and PSAT/NMSQT. The PSAT 10 is not as long or difficult and is geared toward the sophomore level of schooling, the release said.
The PSAT 10 also gives feedback on what students need to get ready for college, and it provides an idea of how students would perform on an admissions test in comparison with other potential enrollees. Students can also receive information from colleges by indicating a desire for the material by checking the Student Service Search option.
Those interested in taking the exam in April must sign up in the high-school office. Call 309-793-5950, ext. 2010, or talk to Mrs. Page-Pierson in the school's counseling division for more information, the release said.
