City of Silvis Personnel and Insurance Committee met March 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Chairman Rockwell called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm and noted a quorum was present for one agenda item.

Chairman Rockwell explained that through the negotiations with FOP members suggested a vision plan in place of the vision allotment. Hub provided a proposal for vision; that proposal was distributed to

committee for consideration. Chairman Rockwell said the vision plan would be funded at 100% but both unions would need to participate. He explained the benefits of the plan; there is a $15 copay for eye care exams and a $30 copay for the material (lenses, contacts, frames, etc.) and as long as in network the material is covered at 100%. There is one exception with frames as they are covered 100% up to $130. Jim said that when the zip code 61265 was entered more than 100 eye care facilities came up within a 5.5 mile radius as part of the network. Preston Smith thought the monetary reimbursement was more advantageous and would like more information. Chairman Rockwell said he thought this was better for the members.Pat Robinson agreed that he thought this plan was needed.

Chairman Rockwell said the purpose of the meeting was informational but wanted to go on record that the committee was in agreement to recommend to the Council support of the vision plan.

There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 3:24 pm.
