Report: Orion spent $8,898 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Orion Community Unit School District 223 is up 1 percent from five years ago, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Henry County school district spent $8,782 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,898 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1067 to 1077.

Orion's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
