Report: Geneseo spent $8,540 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Geneseo Community Unit School District 228 is up 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Henry County school district spent $8,307 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,540 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2652 to 2637.

Geneseo's spending in 2016-17 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
