Bishop Hill Heritage Association recently issued the following announcement.

As part of Bishop Hill’s celebration of the Illinois Bicentennial, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association has organized a Civil War Day for Saturday May 26. There will be Union and Confederate encampments in the village park all day, with programs occurring throughout the day. All these programs are free and open to the public, due to the generous support of our sponsors, such as Community State Bank and the Galesburg Community Foundation. Some of the programs include an artillery demonstration, a speech by General “Black Jack” Logan, medical demonstrations, Civil War songs concerts, book sale by Civil War Fathersauthor Tim Pletkovich, and of course, battles. Program Schedule

10 a.m.- Artillery Demonstration; by Battery G, 2nd IL Light Artillery

11 a.m. – Skirmish #1; Coopers’ Field

11:30 a.m.-Medical Demonstration following skirmish; Village Park

1 p.m.- General John “Black Jack” Logan performance, as portrayed by Brian “Fox” Ellis; Village Park Gazebo

2:30 p.m.- Skirmish #2; Coopers’ Field

3:00 p.m.-Medical Demonstration following skirmish; Village Park

3:30 p.m.- Concert by Civil War Troubadour Dan Haughey; Village Park Gazebo

7:00 p.m.- The Drummer Boy of Shiloh Concert; performed by Barry Cloyd; The Bishop Hill Commons
