BLACK HAWK COLLEGE: BHC baseball players win region, conference awards

Black Hawk Collegerecently issued the following announcement.

Congrats to eight Black Hawk College baseball players for winning Region IV and Arrowhead Athletic Conference awards!

The 2018 Division II All-North Central District/Region IV teams include four BHC players.

First Team

Chris Liggett, Blue Springs H.S. (MO) – outfielder – freshman

Devin Wessels, United Township H.S. (IL) – pitcher – sophomore

Second Team

Nick Acri, Pleasant Valley H.S. (IA) – infielder – freshman

Stephen Pim, Pleasant Valley H.S.(IA) – outfielder – sophomore

Liggett also was named the Arrowhead Athletic Conference Co-Most Valuable Player along with Cacey O’Brien from Carl Sandburg College.

The Braves were the co-conference champions with Carl Sandburg.

Ryan Lorber, Davenport Central H.S. (IA) – catcher – sophomore

Sam Stonskas, North Scott H.S. (IA) – designated hitter – freshman

Nick Villasenor, Addison Trail H.S. (IL) – pitcher – freshman

Devin Wessels, United Township H.S. (IL) – pitcher – sophomore

The Braves are headed to the NJCAA Region IV Baseball – North Central District Division II Tournament May 18-20 at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, IL.

Black Hawk College will play McHenry County College (42-12) at noon Friday, May 18. The winner will play Kankakee Community College (41-15) or Madison College (31-20) at noon Saturday, May 19.
