City of Atlanta City Council met May 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Open: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held on Tuesday May 15, 2018 at the Atlanta City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Fred Finchum at 7:30 pm.

Roll Call: Eimer, Young, Cheek and Mayor were present. Halley, Finchum and Mcvey were absent.

Halley entered at 7:32 pm.

Motion by Cheek second by Eimer to approve the minutes as presented.

Young-yes McVey-A

Motion Carries.

Motion by Halley second by Cheek to pay all bills as approved by their chairman or as far as money allows.

Motion Carries.

Tim Armstrong passed out a Government press release regarding reporting information.

Paul Eckert asked when clean up would be complete on right of way behind his house.

States he “saw 2 people reading water meters again”. He also mentioned that all bills should be reviewed by all council members.

He brought up treasurer not attending meetings.

He also states there is a drinking fountain in Rt. 66 Park that runs continuously, could that be changed.

Also states that there are 2 areas from water main repairs that need to be seeded.

Rick McKown brought up that his irrigation system hits the Ameren pole and this needs to be moved.

Randy Brooks reported that they will have to bring some water over from the treatment plant unless we get some rain.

Police Chief Eimer reported on Law Enforcement Day at the school. He also addressed Ordinance violations, specifically dog walkers not picking up after their dogs.

The City Attorney has no new updates.

Mayor brought up a proposal that was given to the Council at the last meeting for Water Tower Clean and Coat to come and clean the Water Tower. After making some phone calls to prior customers, the Mayor states they were good to work with and would be hired again by those customers.

Motion by Eimer second by Cheek to accept the bid and hire Water Tower Clean and Coat to clean the water tower.

The Mayor brought up a request from Atlanta Betterment Fund for Tourism funds for $250 to participate in the Illinois Bicentennial passport program.

Alderwoman Halley asked if any data is collected regarding how successful these programs are.

Then the second request is for repairs to the brick wall around Rt. 66 Park in the amount of $1500.00.

Motion by Halley second by Eimer to separate these Betterment Fund request and vote on them separately.

Motion Carries.

Motion by Eimer second by Halley to accept the request for $250.00 for the Illinois Bicentennial Passport Program.

Motion Carries.

Motion by Cheek to accept the request to participate in repairing the brick wall at the Atlanta Park.

No second was made, so this will be tabled to the next meeting.

The Council took up pay request number 1 for Andersen Electric in the amount of $30,150.00

Motion by Cheek second by Halley to approve the pay request for $30,150.00 to Andersen Electric.

Motion Carries.

Alderman Young asked how salaries are increased in May without discussion in April.

Alderman Halley requested some help to raise money and raise contributions for Fireworks.

Motion by Halley second by Cheek to adjourn the meeting.
