Long a champion of the value of education, Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) recently met with company representatives at the John Deere factory in Moline to talk about workforce development.
In a post on Facebook, McCombie said the group discussed “current workforce skills gaps” and “brainstormed how to improve the situation.”
The John Deere visit continues a tour to various businesses that began last October when McCombie visited Company One, JT Cullen, Fulton Meat Market, Timken Drives and other key locations.

McCombie, the first in her family to earn a college degree, identifies education as one of seven platform planks, according to her website.
She faces Democratic challenger Joan Padilla in the November general election. McCombie, the former mayor of Savanna, won her House seat in 2016 over incumbent Mike Smiddy by a 63-37 margin.
