How much has AlWood CUSD 225 overspent over the past 10 years?

Alwood Community Unit School District 225 accumulated $1.49 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, AlWood CUSD 225 reported 8.4 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 11.4 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 1,482.4 percent from 2008 to 2017.
