City of Rock Island recently issued the following announcement.
Photographer Oscar Hakelier ran the "Vienna Photographic Studio" from 1888 to 1903 at 1722 2nd Avenue in downtown Rock Island. His photographs of Rock Island, the Arsenal Island, riverboats on the Mississippi River, and other activities show life in the 1890s. The fragile photographs, kept safely in our library archives, have now been digitized and restored. Now you can see them!
