Western Illinois University Riverfront Campus recently issued the following announcement.
Western Illinois University Libraries Nursery Worker Rebecca Fross has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for August at Western Illinois University.
Fross was hired at Western in August 1996 as a data entry operator II in Admissions and resigned in June 1999 to return to school. She returned to the University in September 2011 in her current position.
According to her nominator, Fross works hard to make Malpass Library "a beautiful place to work and study."
"Rebecca is truly dedicated to her job," said her nominator. "She comes in during winter breaks to care for the plants in the building and she works quietly and diligently behind the scenes to make WIU the best it can be. She has worked to reduce the humidity in Malpass Library by reducing the number of plants by 62 percent, while still providing a welcoming environment."
In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.
The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
