College4

Western Illinois University Riverfront Campus recently issued the following announcement.

The Showcase at Sundown event, a concert hosted by a Western Illinois University School of Music class, will be held from 8-11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Multicultural Center.

The event, open free to the public, will include musical performances by "Lone Daisy," "G and Corlie," "Cordell From the Guitar Shop" and "Invoxicated."

The class, artist development, is made up of 20 students who are divided into four groups. Each group has the task of selecting an artist to perform at the event.

Students work with WESTEC Auditorium Technical Director Mark Behymer and music business student Peter Yore, a senior from Tinley Park, IL, to produce the event.

The cost of the event is covered by a donation from Vicki Neels, who gave to the WIU School of Music because of her son, Zachary's, positive experience with the program. Zachary received his bachelor's degree from Western in 2010 in broadcasting, with a minor in music business.

After the performance, students will have to make a group presentation to their class about their experience.
