Kippy Breeden: 'It's all about having a commitment to put this state first.'

Kippy Breeden trusts that her record will speak for itself in her Henry County District 1 Board re-election effort on Nov. 6.

“My record is one of giving back to citizens and serving the public with honor,” Breeden told Rock Island Today. “I have done all this without compensation, because I believe the democracy we strive to have is keenly important.”

Breeden said she believes her openness to working across the aisle for the common good is just what the state needs at this critical moment.

“I feel I have an openness to listen and ability to come to compromise without giving up any services [that] are vital right now,” she said. “It’s all about having a commitment to putting this state first and doing the things that need to be done to stay on track. I’m willing to get down to the nitty-gritty of making that happen, and I think my constituents have come to expect and respect that.”

To have truly the best chance of rescuing Illinois, Breeden said things need to start at the grassroots level.

“The working-from-the-top-down approach really hasn’t worked so well, as evidenced by where we are right now,” she said. “We need to get back to the basics where everyone is viewed as valuable and important, regardless of race, religion and everything else.”

Breeden added she is hoping that voters turn out in droves on Nov. 6 to make their voices heard and feelings known.

“If Illinois is ever to have any real chance of getting back on track, people need to come out and be engaged about the vision they trust and believe in for this state,” she said.
