The Rocks finished their season, 5-5.

The Rock Island High School football team will host their annual team banquet at the school on Nov. 18, at 5 p.m.

School officials are asking supporters to show their team spirit by taking part in the “take a player to dinner” festivities, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page. Cost is $10 per person.

The Rocks finished their season at 5-5, bowing out in a Class 6A first-round playoff loss to top-seeded Oak Lawn Richards, 49-0.

Afterward, coach Brian Hammer only had praise for his players, telling reporters “we made some mistakes, but they only came from guys trying to do something or make a play.”

After starting the season with back-to-back losses, the Rocks bounced back to win three straight, scoring 118 points for an average of 39 per game.

Rock Island earned the fifth win needed to qualify for the postseason by blitzing Richwoods 61-9 on their home turf.
