Augustana freshmen swim star Aviana Zahara was recently named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimmer of the Week.
During the week of Nov. 16, Zahara blazed to a Pepper Natatorium record time in the 100 freestyle of: 54.65 to lead the Vikings to a 168-34 dual meet win. She added a win in the 50 freestyle (:25.09) and paced the Vikings to a winning time of 1:57.02 in the 200 medley relay.
According to the school's website, the next day, Zahara posted a top 10 Division III time of :58.93 in the 100 backstroke to lead Augustana to a third-place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. She also finished third in the 50 freestyle (:25.14) and sparked the Vikings to third-place finishes in both the 200 freestyle (1:41.73) and 200 medley (1:52.17) relays.
