Veteran lawmaker Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) is giving new meaning to the term "Springfield straight shooter."
The state representative from the 74th District recently posted a photo to Facebook from one of his recent gun range outings, displaying several center-target hits and captioned “my 30 rounds.”
Swanson also said on Facebook, "Today I finally attended required 8 hr training for my Concealed Carry License," and thanked his instructor, Matt McFall.
Swanson was elected to the House in 2016 on a platform that included improved education, job and budget reform. He is up for re-election in 2019.
The former Henry County Board member and Lt. Colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard serves on such House committees as Agriculture and Conservation, Appropriations-Public Safety, Elementary & Secondary Education Curriculum Policies, Fire & Emergency Services and Veterans’ Affairs.
The 74th district includes Mercer, Henry, Knox, Bureau and Lee counties in western Illinois.
