Report: Orion spent $8,740 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Orion Community Unit School District 223 is down 1.6 percent from five years ago, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Henry County school district spent $8,881 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,740 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1086 to 1061.

Orion's spending in 2017-18 was 34.5 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
