Former state university employee Dockery Jackson paid in $46K to pension fund, could collect $885K in retirement

Former state university employee Mary Dockery Jackson, who retired in July 2016, saved $45,987 toward a pension over 19 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Dockery Jackson would collect as much as $885,382, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Rock Island Today.

The projection assumes Dockery Jackson received $18,610 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Dockery Jackson will have already received $57,521 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
