City of Aledo Cliff Tax Increment Financing Committee met June 10.

A Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Committee meeting of the City of Aledo met in Open Session in the Council Chambers of the City Hall building on June 10, 2019. ALD. SARABASA called the Committee meeting to order at 6:15 P.M. The roll was called, whereupon the following committee members answered present:

Aldermen MICHAEL CHAUSSE, BARRY COOPER, CHRIS KOPP, and LINDA SARABASA. Mayor CHRIS HAGLOCH excused.

Also present ILA BERTRAND, Alderman, JIM HOLMES, Alderman, and JAROD DALE, City Clerk.

The following was discussed:

Approval of Committee Minutes: Motion was made by ALD. KOPP and seconded by ALD. CHAUSSE to approve the minutes of the TIF Committee held on 01/14/19. A Unanimous voice vote followed in agreement.

Discussion on a TIF Application – Building Façade & Repair Grant Request by Dave Relander, Stuts Drug Store Inc., located at 105 S. College Avenue, Aledo, IL:

CITY CLERK reported Dave Relander approached the City for a project he would like to complete in 2019 for property listed above. The quotes presented explain the scope of the work on the building. The work will be done to maintain structural and improve physical condition of a building in the Downtown Aledo Historic District.

The request is in line with the Aledo TIF Assistance Policy under the Building Façade & Repair Grant program. Relander has previously received an awning grant (2010), assistance with tuck pointing on 101 and 105 S. College Avenue (2002), rehabilitation grant for 207 S. College Avenue (2010), and a building façade and repair grant at 101 S. College Ave (2018). The 2018 building façade & repair grant has not been paid out to date. A building façade & repair grant is reimbursable up to $7,500.

Mr. Relander obtained bids from the following:

East Moline Glass Co.                 Rock Island Glass Co.

Total Bid: $14,388.60                  Total Bid: $16,186 

City’s 50%: $7,194.30                City’s 50%: $8,093

Both bids include removal and replacement of the existing store front windows and the door at 105 S. College Avenue. The items are prevailing wage.

Motion was made by ALD. CHAUSSE and seconded by ALD. COOPER to approve the building and façade grant requested by Dave Relander, Stuts Drug Store Inc., located at 105 S. College Avenue, Aledo, IL., with the bid submitted by East Moline Glass Co. for a total bid of $14,388.60 with the City’s 50% portion to be $7,194.30 and to move the item to the City Council for final approval. A Unanimous voice vote followed in agreement.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, motion was made by ALDERMAN COOPER and seconded by ALDERMAN KOPP that the meeting be adjourned. Unanimous voice vote followed in agreement. Meeting was adjourned at 6:23 P.M.
