2019 Recap: Parolees near Illinois zip code 61201 convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole near Illinois zip code 61201 during 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rock Island Today.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in 61201 were men. The younger parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2013. The other was a 51-year-old man sentenced in 1999.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was David A. Greer. He was convicted of homicide in 1999 when he was 31 years old. He is now 51.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
