Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Inc issued the following announcement on Jan. 14
As a member of the Quad Cities COVID-19 Coalition, the Quad Cities Chamber encourages all businesses and workers to follow all CDC-recommended guidance to ensure the health and safety of our community. The Rock Island County Health Department and Scott County Health Department have provided the following update on CDC isolation and quarantine guidance:
The CDC recently announced updated recommendations for COVID-19 isolation (for ill/positive individuals) and quarantine (exposed individuals). The new guidance shortens the isolation and quarantine timelines due to data gathered on the infectious period of the Omicron variant. Of important note is that the shortened isolation and quarantine guidelines are partnered with strict mask wearing for the remaining infectious period (Day 6 through Day 10). The updated isolation guidance focuses on symptoms experienced by the individual. The updated quarantine guidance takes vaccination status into account. Read the CDC's full guidance on quarantine and isolation.
The spread of COVID is currently close to an all-time high and testing resources in the community are currently under stress. Due to this, we recommend employers use symptom-based “ending isolation and quarantine” guidelines, not requiring negative test results. Additionally, individuals can continue to remain positive on a PCR test for up to 3 months after first testing positive. If an individual’s symptoms have not improved by day 5, it is recommended that the individual continue to isolate until symptoms have improved.
Universal masking and vaccinations (and boosters) continue to be the best tools to help keep your employees safe and healthy. Thank you for all you continue to do to slow the spread of the virus and keep our communities up and running.
