Illinois State Representative Tony McCombie endorsed U.S. House candidate Esther Joy King in a Facebook post published on Saturday that included photos of the two of them campaigning together.

"So thankful to spend the day with Esther For Congress!" the post read. "She has worked her tail off to earn your vote! The only thing left to do is up to us! Registered voters need to become active voters! Your vote IS YOUR VOICE! Let's GO!

Representative McCombie has been representing Illinois' 71st District since 2016. She's a lifelong resident of Savanna, and she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University. She owns and operates Blue Appraisals and is a real estate broker with MelFoster Company. She previously served both as Savanna's mayor and as a councilor on the Savanna City Council.

McCombie had also previously endorsed King in October, according to the Rockford Sun.

"Will let you be the judge.... but I have NO question that Esther For Congress has the strength, the knowledge, and the ability to best serve the families of the 17th Congressional District!" McCombie said. " If you are an independent or unsure... please take the time, watch this debate and do your research... this election can and will make a difference in Washington DC!"

King is a third-generation military member and a JAG officer in the U.S. Army. She also served as an aid worker in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she helped dozens of young girls escape the Taliban regime.
