State Sen. Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) was sworn in Wednesday to serve in the newly formed 47th District in the state’s 103rd General Assembly in Springfield.
In an official statement posted on Facebook, Anderson noted that he was pleased with his accomplishments, but noted there is more work to do.
“I am proud of the work I’ve been able to get done in the 36th District, but there is still more work to be done and Illinoisans deserve more and better,” Anderson said in the statement. “As legislators, we must do our due diligence to represent our districts at our full potential and weed out bad policy and fight for the good.”
Anderson pointed out that he has fought for gun rights.
“Since I have been in the General Assembly, I have continuously worked to protect our Second Amendment Rights,” he said in the statement. “I’ve made it clear I believe the FOID Card is unconstitutional which is why I have filed legislation every year to repeal the FOID Act. Law-abiding gun owners have been under attack in this state for far too long and I will continue to fight for our constitutional rights.”
Anderson also noted in the statement that he has set up a new district office, located in the Button Building in Aledo, and satellite offices will be operated in Macomb and Kewanee, according to the statement.
Anderson was unopposed in the November general election for the 47th District Senate seat.
According to the biography on his website, Anderson has served in the Illinois State Senate since 2015, representing the 36th District. He is a firefighter/paramedic with the Moline Dire Department. He and his wife, Brandi, have two children.
