Illinois State Rep. Bradley Fritts recently highlighted the work of a local business for its service to the city of Dixon.
"Today I had the honor of presenting Coffee Crush Dixon with the District 74 Local Business Highlight for the month of May!" Fritts wrote in a May 23 Facebook post. "Shelly [Brantley] and all of her staff at Coffee Crush offer a friendly and welcoming space for our community, all while serving some great coffee, food, and pastries. Be sure to stop by if you're ever in Downtown Dixon!"
According to Fritts' announcement, Brantley founded Coffee Crush in 2019 "after noticing there were no other drive-thru coffee shops in Dixon."
In a press release, Fritts says he chose Coffee Crush because, "They offer a welcoming space for our community to gather while providing incredible products and friendly service. As a frequent visitor to Coffee Crush myself, I truly appreciate their dedication to giving back to the area in many ways, such as contributing donations to local fundraisers and organizations."
According to Coffee Crush Dixon's website, the coffee shop serves a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, teas, and frappes. They also serve a variety of sandwiches, smoothie bowls and baked goods. The store is located at 122 North Peoria Ave. and is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fritts is continuing his work to promote District 74 businesses. On May 25, he announced a summer tour that will see him visit cities and towns across the area. “I am thrilled to announce that this summer I will be making my way into almost every town, village, and city in District 74,” Fritts said in the press release. “As an elected official, it is my responsibility to not only make myself available to my constituents but to understand every corner of the district that I represent.”
The tour consists of traveling office hours and coffee & conversation events held on alternating weeks from June 7 to Aug. 30. Coffee & Conversation events will all be held at locally owned coffee shops and restaurants. Fritts will also be traveling to local businesses and municipal governments to better understand their state needs.
