State Senator Neil Anderson | Illinois General Assembly

State Senator Neil Anderson has criticized Governor JB Pritzker and state and federal Democrats for prioritizing migrants over tax-paying residents in Illinois. Senator Anderson expressed his concern, stating, "This administration has made it clear that the hard-working law-abiding citizens of our state don't matter." He highlighted the struggles faced by residents, such as reduced incomes and increased prices for daily needs, while the governor spends billions of taxpayer dollars on non-citizens.

Governor Pritzker has passed the largest budget in state history, with spending on immigrant programs increasing significantly since he took office. One program, in particular, that provides free healthcare to illegal immigrants, is costing the state over half a billion dollars per year. Senator Anderson voiced his frustration, saying, "Young families can't afford to buy a house, and certainly can't afford to house people who this Governor invited to come here. Some of our state's residents can't even afford healthcare for themselves, and now we're giving it out for free to people who are here illegally."

Senator Anderson also criticized Governor Pritzker's criticism of other governors for sending migrants to the state, calling it hypocritical. He pointed out that the administration had encouraged immigrants to come to Illinois for taxpayer-funded support. While Senate Republicans have been working on legislation to provide relief to Illinois residents, Democrats have been more focused on promoting extreme leftist ideologies and policies. Governor Pritzker has been traveling with President Joe Biden to build his public profile, advocating for access to abortion rights.

Senator Anderson urged Governor Pritzker to prioritize addressing the ongoing humanitarian crises in Illinois, particularly those affecting at-risk children, the developmentally disabled community, and veterans. He emphasized the need to help struggling Illinois families and avoid further tax hikes to fund the migrant crisis. Senator Anderson concluded by stating, "There is no more water in the well. Illinois families can't afford another tax hike to pay for the migrant crisis."

The issue raised by Senator Anderson highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the allocation of resources and support for migrants versus the needs of local citizens. It is a complex issue that requires careful consideration and balancing of priorities to ensure the well-being of all residents.
