Judge Joe McGraw, a candidate for the 17th Congressional District, has expressed his appreciation and pride in receiving an endorsement from the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (IFOP). The IFOP, which represents over 33,000 active duty and retired police officers in Illinois, is the second-largest organization of its kind in the United States.

"Our support in the law enforcement community continues to grow! I’m proud to be endorsed by the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police," McGraw said on Facebook.

The President of IFOP, Chris Southwood, underscored McGraw’s commitment to maintaining the rule of law and his consistent support for law enforcement throughout his career.

"We’re proud to endorse Judge Joe McGraw for Congress in Illinois’ 17th Congressional District," Southwood stated in a press release.

He emphasized that officers have placed their trust in McGraw and are looking forward to working with him to ensure the safety of Illinois families.

In addition to the endorsement from IFOP, McGraw also has received backing from more than two dozen law enforcement officials across the 17th Congressional District.

Responding to these endorsements, McGraw outlined his objectives.

"My goal is simple - make certain that IL-17 is the best place in Illinois to live, work, and raise a family," he said.

According to him, there must be law and order for the well-being of Illinois families. He criticized policies such as eliminating cash bail and lax border control as having negative consequences. In Congress, McGraw pledges to support law enforcement by increasing funding and advocating for incarcerating violent criminals.

McGraw announced his candidacy for the 17th Congressional District in mid-October. A former prosecutor, private attorney, and retired Circuit Court judge, he plans to challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-Ill.), who narrowly won this district in 2022. His campaign emphasizes law-and-order principles, leveraging his judicial background to address urban crime and immigration issues, and to end corruption. according to his website

The 17th Congressional District encompasses Carroll, Fulton, Henry, Knox, McDonough, Mercer, McLean, Peoria, Rock Island, Stephenson, Tazewell, Warren, Whiteside and Winnebago counties. It is currently represented by Congressman Eric Sorensen (D-Ill.), who is seeking reelection.
