City of Lewistown Water Committee met Jan. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Kendall Miller, Alderperson Sally Clark, Alderperson Jim Long, Alderperson John Spotloe, Mayor Doug Lafary, also Deb Brown, Cindy Goddard, and Evinn Palmer.

BUSINESS to discuss water line at Mr. Bryant's house at 404 North Maple. Resident called last year before winter, the public works crew went and opened curb box and meter inside and checked it, all ok. She was informed it was her responsibility needs to contact plumber. Looked again at curb stop later, nearest is west side of Main Street and other nearest is East Eisenhower, all a block away. No other neighbors have complained about low water pressure. She said it is the city. It is a 3⁄44 line, a side street may be cheaper than Main Street when getting it fixed. It is her service line, so up to homeowner to take care of it. Not sure if any help out there for them, like a church or something. Alderperson Miller said street opening is $100.00, and then add the tap fee. Evinn said they have got previous estimates, not sure how much they were. Miller said we can't pay for all of it, Spotloe agrees and that would open a can of worms. They will have to take care of this issue themselves. The city could split up the payments on there water bill if need for tap and street opening fees. Clerk will advise the homeowners. Meeting adjourned at 6:12 p.m. by Chairman Kendall Miller.
