City of East Moline Special Service Area Committee met March 26.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
Roll Call - Present: Martin Corey, Patricia Hansen, Larry Anderson, Dan Guerrero, Michelle Horton Absent: Lyndsay Smith, John Stopoulos
City: Alderman Adam Guthrie, City Administrator Mark Rothert
• Guest – None Approval of Minutes – A motion from Larry, second - Michelle - Minutes are approved as written.
Financial Report Given by Martin – A motion from Larry, second – Patricia - financial report accepted as written.
Façade/ Fencing Applications – Mark presented applications from Rob Edwards and Vickie Hughes he is requesting more information from both parties. Will bring back next month. Mark will look into if the recommendations are by parcel number, building or by individual address to make sure this is clear.
Bills – Martin – Michelle and Patricia’s monthly bills were presented along with an EMMS reimbursement for ordering the dog waste signs with a motion to approve bills by Larry with a second from Dan. Bills are to be paid.
Directors Report – none
Flower Report – Mulch is being dispersed downtown, a sink hole from running water is being addressed and the bill will be submitted for rock to fill it in. Michelle addressed a trash issue with the Shine Box and they have done an amazing job getting their area cleaned up.
Main Street Report – Paticia EMMS has received the Book Walk grant and will be working with maintenance and the library getting them order placed and ready for readers. Paint the Town art grant was also received, and several business windows will be painted downtown for Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas - making downtown vibrant and fun.
Cinco de Mayo is looking to be even larger than last year, working with EMPD, Maintenance, the business and over 100 vendors and volunteers will ensure a great safe successful event. A loop bus has been added running from John Deere Harvester to EM Glass and dropping off at the corner of 9th Street and 15th Avenue. EMMS is working to add events for the future.
Graffiti – John will be painting his building and the Runners’ Park blacktop graffiti has already been worked on.
Runners’ Park Repairs – The water sink hole mentioned above, sealing the signage at the gateway to the park. Pressure washing the back wall brick and maybe seal coating the benches again were all discussed. Adam will reach out the maintenance to see if this is something they can do. Also, glueing down a portion of the turf needs tended too.
