With winter approaching, Illinois residents are encouraged to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This federal initiative supports low-income households in managing their energy bills.

Currently, applications are open for priority groups. These include senior citizens, households with disabled members, families with children under five years old, and those facing imminent disconnection. From November 1, all income-eligible households can apply for assistance.

For more information about the program and eligibility criteria, residents can visit helpillinoisfamilies.com or reach out to their local community action agency.
