Rep. Ryan Spain has highlighted the introduction of a new online licensing system by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). The system, known as the Comprehensive Online Regulatory Environment (CORE), is currently open for clinical psychologists, nail technicians, and music therapists.
"The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation launched its new online licensing system yesterday for the first set of IDFPR-licensed professionals (clinical psychologists, nail technicians, and music therapists," said Spain, State Representative, according to Facebook.
According to a report by WCIA, CORE aims to simplify professional licensing in Illinois. Initially, it will accept new applications from specific professions to test its functionality. The second phase will incorporate other professions that still rely on manual or paper processes, with healthcare professionals being prioritized. IDFPR collaborated with Tyler Technologies to develop CORE.

WCIA reports that enforcement actions will also transition to this new system. Mario Treto Jr., IDFPR Secretary, said in an October 30 news release: "Everyone wanting to earn a living in Illinois in the 21st century should have tools of the times available so they can be licensed and get to work as soon as possible." Treto added that CORE demonstrates their commitment to improving services for the betterment of Illinois and anticipates a full transition over the next two years.
The IDFPR plans to announce the completion of each implementation phase, totaling six phases. These include full regulatory transitions for various divisions such as DPR (Division of Professional Regulation), Division of Real Estate, Division of Banking, and Division of Financial Institutions.
