City of Geneseo City Council met June 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The Regular Council of the City of Geneseo was called to order on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM, in the Council Chambers, with the following members present:

COUNCIL PRESENT: COUNCIL Council Bob James, Council Craig Arnold, Mayor Sean Johnson, Council Martin Rothschild, Alderman James Roodhouse, Council Paula Simosky, Alderman Kent Swanson, and Council Keith Kennett

ABSENT: Council Brett Barnhart

STAFF PRESENT: Director of Finance Jamie Matthews, City Administrator Brandon Maeglin, Director of IT Garrett Griswold, Attorney Derke Price, Deputy Chief of Police Kondon Karzin, Chief of Police Casey Disterhoft, Director of Public Works Chad VandeWoestyne, Building Inspector Rick Mills, and City Engineer Loren Rains

6 Public Comment - Agenda Items 

City Ordinance allows members of the Public to speak and give input up to 3 minutes during Public Comment, there can be no debate or action by the City Council at this time.

Stan Redell with Two Brother's Tree Service made comments about the possibility of the burn pile being closed to tree companies dumping their tree debris at the city site. He requests for this this to be tabled and/or delayed.

Resident Mike Cox spoke about how he believes that the burn pile should stay open and that everyone benefits from it.

Resident Beverly Lamb spoke about how the burn pile is still needed and that more services are needed in Geneseo for disposal of yard waste, not less.

Bob Wittenauer with Bobby's Tree Service requested that the closing of the burn pile be tabled and that it would hinder his currently bid out projects.

Craig Arnold moved, seconded by Keith Kennett, Motion to approve using the omnibus method and to approve items 11.1 - 11.3

Craig Arnold moved, seconded by Bob James, Motion to table this item for further investigation and to bring back to a future meeting for discussion.

IV.) IOM Update 

a. Zack has graduated from Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and has received the recognition of IOM. The IOM Graduate Recognition signifies the individual’s completion of 96 credit hours of course instruction in non-profit management. Through a combination of required courses and electives in areas such as leadership, advocacy, marketing, finance, and membership, Institute participants are able to enhance their own organizational management skills and add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively. Institute graduates are recognized across the country as leaders in their industries and organizations.
