COMMUNICATIONS

Review of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Rules and Regulations

Staff is reviewing the Rules and Regulations to identify areas for update in 2026. For this discussion, staff would like to focus on the meeting agenda order, pre-screening of applicants, eligibility registers, and any additional suggestions from the Commissioners.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Pursuant to Section 2.06, 5ILCS 120/2 (c)(1) of the Open Meetings Act: The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Full-time Appointment of Police Officer ( Darren Gault, Police Chief)

Explanation: Officer Keegan Behrens will complete his probationary period as a Police Officer, effective October 28, 2025.

Attachment: No

Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends the full-time appointment of Police Officer Behrens, effective October 28, 2025, pending no concerns that may develop between today’s date and October 28, 2025.

2. Acceptance of Resignation of Police Officer (Darren Gault, Chief of Police)

Explanation: Police Officer Ian Lopez submitted his notice of resignation on August 26, 2025, effective immediately, following three months of service to the department.

Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends acceptance of the resignation of Police Officer Ian Lopez, effective August 26, 2025.
