City of Lewistown TIF Committee met Aug. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

COMMITTEE MEMBERS- Chairman John Spotloe, Alderperson Dave Levingston, Alderperson Sally Clark. 

BUSINESS TO DISCUSS- Discuss TIF application for Evinn Palmer. Evinn is applying for reimburse for a house he bought and tore down that had caught fire. Evinn is asking for $12,215.45. Evinn stated that he is trying to purchase the lot to the west of it and put in indoor batting cages and pitching mound. Evinn stated that it is something that would benefit the city and the kids in surrounding towns. Alderperson Spotloe asked if this is something they can do. Clerk Nelson stated that Gwen the TIF attorney stated that it is. Alderman Ward asked Evinn if he thought he was going to be able to acquire the property to the west, Evinn stated that he has been working on it. Evinn stated if he was unable to get the property to the west that he would put in a building that would be a turn key business for someone new to come to town. Alderperson Long asked how much they had available, Clerk Nelson stated that it was $49,385.00. Alderman Levingston asked if they were aloud to put stipulation on the agreement, Clerk Nelson stated that the attorney stated they could do what they wanted. Alderperson Long stated that he thinks the council should give him what he wants, Alderperson Levingston asked if they wanted to put stipulation on it. Alderperson Ward stated he had no problem with him selling the property as long as there was a building established there. Committee is going to recommend to council to give Evinn the total amount with the stipulations there has to be a turn key business on the property or he can not sell in within 5 years. Motion to adjourn meeting at 6:26 p.m.
