The city of Moline met as a committee of the whole on Feb. 2 to approve a $74,300 service contract with Denler Inc. that will cover this year's joint and crack sealing program.
Denler was the lowest bidder out of a field of six bids that went as high as $115,000.
The committee also approved an increase of more than $468,000 in the final bill from Miller Trucking and Excavating Inc. for relocating utilities along River Drive. The increase represents the difference between the company's original bid amount and the actual costs of the projects, which turned out to be 26 percent higher.
The city also approved a five-year lease with Verizon, which will put antennas and other communication equipment on the city's water tower.
