Promo portrays Smiddy as Madigan's minion
A recently distributed Illinois Republican Party campaign flyer features a photoshopped vignette of Speaker Michael Madigan “served” in a restaurant by a bow-tie clad Rep. Mike Smiddy (D-Hillside), complete with eye-catching headlines.
The direct mailer pictures Madigan seated at a table while Smiddy stands behind him costumed as a waiter in an upscale eatery, complete with cloth napkin draped over one arm.
“Doubletalking Mike Smiddy serving Mike Madigan since 2013,” the mailer’s front panel headline announces.
The reverse side of the page sports its own headline: “State Rep. Mike Smiddy says he’s for us… but goes to Springfield and does Madigan’s bidding.”
“Mike Smiddy serving Mike Madigan is costing our families,” the copy states. “Watch what Smiddy does in Springfield, not what he says in the Quad Cities.”
