McGuire has harsh words for legislators

Vote

Brandi McGuire, a Republican candidate for House District 72, recently had some harsh words for legislators, who she does not feel are doing their jobs due to the lack of a long-term balanced budget.

McGuire believes that, because they are not doing their jobs, they should not get paid. She stuck to these beliefs when asked if legislators should be paid ahead of social service providers or anyone else, calling them out for acting in a selfish manner.

“Legislators should undoubtedly be paid after social service providers or anyone else,” McGuire said. “The constituents should always come first. I stand very firmly on this issue, because it affects myself and the people I love and care about. A single mother working in the social service department needs and should be put as a priority over legislators. Families with both parents working to make ends meet should not be getting the bad end of the deal because of legislators in Springfield are acting in self-interest. If there is no budget it is the job of the legislators to create one and once it is in place they need to take care of the people the promised to put first.”
