Rock Island Parks and Recreation will host two meetings to allow the community to learn more about recent changes, ask questions and give input.
Officials with the department will discuss changes made to bridge budget gaps as well as future plans to ensure park sustainability.
The first meeting will be held Aug. 30 from 6-7 p.m. at Hauberg Center in Rock Island.
Residents of Rock Island are encouraged to attend one of the meetings to stay abreast of the current state of the park, according to Executive Director John Gripp. Topics discussed during the meeting will include Friends and Park Foundation groups that offer support, staff reorganization, infrastructure of the parks system, the new three-tier approach to park maintenance and budget gaps to the current tax base supporting it.
Anyone with questions, a willingness to learn or a desire to offer input is welcome. Questions can be addressed by calling 309-732-7275.
