Augustana senior defensive end Michael Daniels recently was named to the first team of the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic (CSIDA) All-District Football Team, the school's athletics website said.
Daniels, a Geneseo native, was picked to represent District Seven, which consists of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio in NCAA Division III.
Daniels was a three-year letter-winner as a linebacker for the Vikings before switching to a down defensive lineman this season. He has a grade-point average of 3.99 as an accounting and finance major. His other academic honors include making the dean's list each term and being part of the Aristea Freshman Honor Society.
Through Nov. 3, Daniels led Augustana's defensive lineman in total tackles with 32 in 10 games, according to athletics.augustana.edu.
His off-field activities include playing lead alto saxophone in the Augustana Jazz Band and being a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Augustana Real Estate Investment Club.
