East Moline ranked 603th in state in lottery ticket sales

The city of East Moline had the 603th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- down 21 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in East Moline was $14.24 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Rock Island Today, East Moline generated $304,000 in net sales from its 13 lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $334,714 in May 2015.


The city of East Moline is in Rock Island County, and has a population of 21,350, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Carbon Cliff, Silvis, Cleveland, Hampton and Moline.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $18,647.78.

East Moline's top lottery retailer is Jewel/Osco #3770 located at 107 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, IL 61244.

Jewel/Osco #3770 generated 19 percent of East Moline's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 3 percent of Rock Island County's sales that month, which was $1,939,370.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Rock Island County in 2015 were Hillsdale, Rapids City, Milan, Cordova and Silvis.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
