The Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau (QCCVB) unveiled a new program that will help visitors to the area get the most out of their stay by identifying them as tourists so they can receive discounts at local businesses.
The Very Important Visitor, or V.I.V. Writstband program, will provide tourists with neon green wristbands they can use to garner discounts or specials at 20 participating businesses. The QCCVB plans to pass the wristbands out at tournaments, meetings and conventions throughout the summer. They will also be available at the group’s four visitor centers.
“Our visitors don’t have to worry about carrying around paper coupon books and remembering codes anymore,” QCCVB Vice President of Destination Development Molly Otting Carlson said. “The V.I.V. Wristband is an easy way for visitors to have an affordable stay in the Quad Cities.”
The QCCVB also highlighted some prominent events in the Quad Cities, including the ongoing National Travel and Tourism Week and the Quad Cities Celebrity Lip Sync Battle, which will take place on May 11 at The Establishment in Rock Island, beginning at 6:15pm.
The QCCVB Visitors Centers in Moline and Davenport are open on Saturdays, as well as throughout the week for the entire summer season, while the Moline Visitor Center will be open on Saturdays in May. The Rock Island Visitor Center will be open for the summer season on Fridays and Saturdays.
