Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) recently toured the site of “The Q,” a multi-modal station that is under construction in downtown Moline and includes an Element hotel expected to open in August.

On her website, McCombie said the development of the Element hotel is a $35 million investment in Moline. Located at 1202 Fourth Ave., the site was formerly a Sears Warehouse and when finished will offer an extended-stay hotel with 96 rooms.

"The Q is proof that collaboration between private and public entities works!!" McCombie posted on Facebook.

Developers are awaiting delivery of the steel needed to construct a two-story Grand Hall as part of railway service. Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Transportation is expected to complete negotiations with the Iowa-Interstate Railroad in June, allowing the state to build a high-speed track on the property. According to McCombie, construction will begin shortly thereafter, with train service expected to commence by late 2018.
