City of East Moline Park Board met May 9.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Roll Call

Present: Ald. Almblade, C.Braggs , Michael Spencer, B.Stombaugh,

Absent: E. Gay, R. Cervantes,

Guests: Mayor Reggie Freeman, Will Johnson- EMSSC, Marci O’Brien- EMSSC, Dave LlambrechtEM

Maintenance Dept

Not enough members for Quorum, no actions taken. Several members no longer on board.

Secretary’s Report: Approval of Minutes from April minutes postponed to June meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: none

Reports from Partnering Organizations: Johnson and O’Brien provided update on activities. This Saturday

is last day of Spring Rec League. Everything went well. Now taking applications for Fall Rec

League. June is tryouts for travel teams. Noted there is rental for Burmese Soccer Club.

Lambrecht noted excessive trash on field and requested League be more responsible for cleanup.

O’Brien to communicate to League. Local Eagle Scout redoing sign at Park.

Old Business

1) Adult Softball League Continuation: R.Freeman discussed program with attorney and Union.

There is no problem with contracting out services. Also discussed program with Arvanis getting

idea of how it is run. Almblade to send electronic copy of duties to Freeman. Noted two possible

candidates for Arvanis position. To review and invite to next Park Board meeting.

2) Park Evaluation.: Braggs turned in her report to D.Lambrecht. No major concerns.

3) Update on Empire Park volunteer restaining.: Almblade worked with EM/Silvis Kiwanis on May

6th to stain part of Park. Pump Sprayers did not work with thick paint. Lambrecht reported that

group called “ Respectability” is continuing the work. Lambrecht also reported one of the shelters

has been reroofed by EM Building Trades group. EM Park Board graciously thanks them for their

help in maintaining parks. Other shelters will also be reroofed this fall.

4) Update on Firecracker Corner: B.Stombaugh has not heard anything Almblade to follow up.

5) Update on Fishing Clinic: Almblade advised Stocking of pond will be provided by the DNR this

year. Freeman report an application needs to be filled out to request clinic. Freeman to get more

information. Also reported that a local EM Bass Club is interested in sponsoring a fishing derby at

the park.

1) Update of reroofing shelters-Jacobs Northeast Park. D.Lambrecht did not have time to get quotes.

Will try to have by June meeting.
