Mercer County High blood drive leads to a bonus

Blood drive(1000)

A successful blood drive earned Mercer County High School in Aledo a $250 grant.

A “Pay It Forward” blood drive at the school, co-hosted by Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Alpha), drew more than 40 donors, who gave more than 30 pints of blood, a Swanson release said, citing figures from the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

“Nineteen of the donors were first time blood donors,” Swanson said in the release. “Because the school achieved their goal with this event, they will receive a $250 grant from Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.”

“All the students were very courteous and student council members especially helping and reassuring other students as well as providing refreshments at the donor recovery site,” Swanson said in the release. “I was so impressed with these young leaders.”
