Report: Mercer County spent $8,935 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Mercer County School District 404 is down 5 percent from five years ago, according to a Rock Island Today analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Mercer County school district spent $9,402 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,935 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1369 to 1330.

Mercer County's spending in 2016-17 was 31 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
