Illinois State Rifle Association shares news of auction, other events

The Rock Island Auction Company (RIA) will auction off the M1 Garand rifle that John C. Garand was officially presented by the U.S. Army in 1953, according to a press release from the Illinois State Rifle Association.

ISRA Executive Director Richard A. Pearson touted RIA as the “premier firearm auction company in the world."

“I have followed them for years and their auctions feature one fabulous firearm after another," Pearson said. “Mr. Garand gave all of his patents to the United States, at no charge. He could have made a fortune on the some six and half million Garand’s that were produced but he was only interested in being an American Patriot.”

The auction will be a three-day event starting Sept. 7.

In the same bulletin, Pearson reminded members that the elections are drawing closer, and it is important for gun advocates to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

“Unless gun owners turn out and vote, it will be a grim day,” he said. “J.B. Pritzker is the most anti-gubernatorial candidate we have ever had in Illinois.”
