Rockridge Community Unit School District 300 students suspended 129 times in a single school year

Rockridge Community Unit School District 300 reported 129 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The district expelled or suspended 129 students during the year, according to the report. That equates to 11.4 percent of the 1,136 students enrolled.

Of the 114 in-school suspensions, 99 were given to boys and 15 were given to girls, including 45 elementary or middle schoolers and 69 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 113 incidents. There was one incident of tobacco. For 114 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes nine incidents. There were five incidents of alcohol. For seven incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
