Alwood Community Unit School District 225 students suspended 24 times in a single school year

Alwood Community Unit School District 225 reported 24 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 24 students during the year. That equates to 6 percent of the 398 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 18 incidents. For 16 incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes two incidents. There were two incidents of tobacco. For four incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
