United Township High School District 30 students suspended 62 times in a single school year

United Township High School District 30 reported 62 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 62 students during the year. That equates to 3.7 percent of the 1,688 students enrolled.

Of the 62 out-of-school suspensions, 32 were given to boys and 30 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes 29 incidents. There were 21 incidents of drugs. For 30 incidents, students were suspended for 5-10 days.
